WOMEN & THERAPY CALL FOR PAPERS VIOLENCE IN THE LIVES OF BLACK WOMEN I am a clinical psychologist and assistant professor at the University of Washington, Tacoma. I have been asked to edit a special edition on violence in the lives of Black women for the journal Women and Therapy. This quarterly journal is feminist in orientation and is designed to facilitate dialogue about therapy experiences among therapists, consumers, and researchers. Activists, advocates, academics and service providers are encouraged to submit papers. Topics may include, but are not limited to, sexism, racism, classism, and homophobia as they relate to sexual or physical violence against various populations of Black women (e.g., adolescents, including dating violence and/or date rape; incarcerated women, elderly women, immigrant women, women of faith, mentally ill women, lesbian/bisexual women, female perpetrators, etc). Manuscripts that focus on activism and treatment programs are also encouraged. References, citations, and general style of manuscripts should be prepared in APA style, Fourth Edition and may be up to 20 typed double spaced pages in length. Deadline for submissions is February 28, 2001. All manuscripts should be submitted in triplicate with a letter indicating that the material has not been published elsewhere and is not under review at another publication.
